They say it would take too long to setup and also cost too much to implement a beta for SSFII Turbo HD Remix on the PS3. A beta is currently available on the Xbox360 if you’ve bought Commando 3 from the Xbox LIVE Arcade.
It could have been done but the release date would have suffered says Capcom business development boss Christian Svensson.
”We are resource constrained. This project already has gone over the original budget,” said Svensson. ”We wanted to do a beta to test the new network features, but even if it were possible for Sony to do, it would require three submissions (US, Europe, Asia/Japan) to reach the same global audience we can with Microsoft in a single test and global submission.”
The results from the Xbox360 beta test should reflect the performance on the PS3s because of the “code parity across the two”. ‘Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3’ costs 800 Microsoft points on XBLA and allows gamers to participate in the beta for SSFII for around eight weeks.
”We treat the PS3 extremely seriously. To date, we are still the only third party publisher doing cross platform, simultaneous digital releases. Believe it or not, this is not easy and to suggest we aren’t treating the PS3 as important would be ignorant of what we’re doing for it,” he defensively added.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix should be arriving on both Xbox360 and PS3 later this year.
