So far none of the Hollywood big shot studios, other than Sony Pictures obviously, have penned their name to the PS3’s movie service.
Movies are expected to be made available this summer in the US. Sony is expected to match and go beyond the Xbox marketplace features with transferable copies apparently.
Variety’s Ben Fritz reports that ”while Sony may feel confident video downloads will be ready to go this summer, it doesn’t exactly have a big library lined up. Sources at numerous major studios confirmed to me that while they have all talked to Sony, none have yet made a deal. The only one that’s definitely on board so far is, for obvious reasons, Sony Pictures.”
When last I check Sony Pictures had quite the catalogue including some of the best blockbustering classics of all time. They won’t be that hard up.
