Bromberg, who joined BioWare Austin to help revamp Star Wars: The Old Republic and transitioned it to free-to-play, was formerly the CEO and president of MLG (Major League Gaming).
He will still lead BioWare Austin, and will have his responsibilities extended to BioWare Canada (Edmonton and Montreal). He will also run the LA-based Victory studio and Redwood City-based Waystone Studio, both in California.
The appointment comes over a year after rumors had surfaced that Dr. Zeschuk had left BioWare and Bromberg had replaced him. Zeschuk at the time explained handing over the leadership of the Austin studio to Matthew Bromberg, and he was not leaving BioWare. Zeschuk announced his retirement a month later.
Bromberg’s main focus will assuredly be Dragon Age: Inquisition, which will be released next year.
