After a rocky twelve months or so, during which Homefront: The Revolution changed hands from troubled firm Crytek to publisher Deep Silver, the sequel to the frankly pretty rubbish THQ effort re-emerged at this year’s Gamescom.
They rolled out both a slightly overblown cinematic trailer, which introduces the game’s main plot, and a brief section of gameplay, which looks competent if slightly unremarkable.
The Revolution features the same basic setup as its predecessor; it’s set in an occupied America, which has been overrun by North Korean forces. As the native resistance, you’ll fight a guerrilla war against a much better equipped force, using petrol bombs, stolen weapons, and… motorbikes. Yes, there’s a brief section where you drive about on some rooftops, for some reason.
Homefront: The Revolution doesn’t have an official release date just yet. It was originally intended to drop late this year, so I’d imagine it will now be released sometime in 2016.
