So, after three weeks, with a bit of a hiatus whilst we dealt with GamesCom, we finally have the winners of the competition. ahem Drumroll please…
The five winners are:
slaythat
Wowerine
JPerry06
Gyorn
Arrecoolast
Further to that, Wowerine will be receiving the signed copy, and JPerry06 will be receiving the art canvas. Congratulations to everyone! Emails are being sent out to the winners as we speak, so hang tight!
To everyone who didn’t win - never mind! If I could, I would give each and every one of you a prize, but I can’t. Special mention goes out to BoneArc, Ridgy, Raviel, stuntkid, Hellweed, OPFORCE and bosnian_dragon for all the hard work they put in.
Extra special mention goes out to Noobster, for being the only entrant to actually get the question wrong.
I know the competition is over, but I hope we see still get to see you guys around! We’ve recently rolled out some new community features, so get testing and let us know what you think. This competition was brought to you by Blizzard, the good people at Indigo Pearl, and of course, Strategy Informer.
Next up: Déjà Vu.
We said we’d have more prizes on the way, and we always work hard to deliver. To celebrate the release of Blizzard’s Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (our review can be read here) we’re giving away five, count em, five standard edition copies of the game. Not only that, but one of them is signed by the two chaps we interviewed last week, and it comes with a goody bag complete with jigsaw puzzles, posters and other random goodies!
First off some ground rules:
-
European Members only - I’m sorry to have to do this again, but since these are physical products we’re giving away it’s rather expensive to be shipping prizes out to anywhere other than Europe. We’re working on getting some more digitally based prizes that everyone can try and win.
-
Canvas is UK only.
-
Staff are not-eligible - this is only fair. Sorry guys.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business! In order to be in with a chance to win these gems, you have to do two very simple tasks:
Trvia Question
No competition would be complete without an obscure and pointless trivia question. This question serves as the eligibility test - you have to answer it correctly in order to be even considered for the prizes.
Send an email to Joe [at] strategyinformer [dot] com with your site username, and the answer to the following question:
Blizzard Entertainment was formed in 1991 under the name Silicon & Synapse, however it renamed itself Blizzard in 1994. What was the name of the company briefly in-between the S&S and Blizzard identities?
Comments
This is a standard trick with us - we wouldn’t want people signing up, taking the prize, and then leaving again would we? No, in order to stand a chance at winning the prizes, you have to be active, and how will you do that? By simply commenting around the site. Reviews, Previews, Files… whatever takes your interest. Simply leave a comment, join a discussion… whatever you choose. The more you do, the higher your chances are. For this, you have to be a registered member.
We will be able to tell if you lead one word answers, or spam comments, or anything equally as not-cool so please, no funny business.
You can start your show of activity by leaving a comment on this thread saying “I’m in”. That, in addition to your trivia answer, will form the basis of your entry into this competition.
And that’s it! Any questions, email me at the same address, otherwise, good luck and have fun! I’ll leave you with this photo to wet your appetite…
Update: Oh the picture has changed. I wonder what it is? Looks like a canvas of some kind to me… what do you guys think? That’s a canvas, right? An especially awesome canvas with an awesome rendition of some Starcraft II artwork on it?
Do you know what would be more awesome than looking at this picture of an awesome canvas? Owning this awesome canvas.
That’s right folks, due to Strategy Informer’s increasing efforts to peak too soon, in addition to the five copies of Starcraft II we’ve also been given this rather nifty canvas to give away. The one you see in the picture is the one up for grabs, so what you see is what you get.
How do you get to own this fine piece of art? Well… we’re not entirely sure. The rules and the competition itself hasn’t changed, so don’t worry about that, but the canvas itself can only go out to UK readers, again because of shipping costs. Sorry guys!
Due to these points, we’re unsure how we’re going to award this prize, but award it we shall. Since we’re here, some general updates too:
Commenting - We’ve had to tell this to a couple of people, and it’s led me to believe that you guys may have slightly misinterpreted what we meant by this portion of the competition: this is not a numbers game. The person with the most posts does not win, so keep his in mind when having a discussion via comments.
End Date - Due to the addition of the canvas, and due to the fact that it’s GamesCom and we’ll be a tad busy, the competition will be extended to at least August 23rd, maybe a few days more.
